We each have a role to play, but what does that role look like? As Chief Inclusion Officer for Minnesota, James C Burroughs II is charged with making Minnesota a state that works for everyone – a state that welcomes, values, and respects everyone. Hear how the state plans to address the issues influencing and perpetuating racial disparities. 

James will help frame the difficult but important work we have ahead of us to advance equity and inclusion efforts at our own organizations. Learn how the state is crafting their strategy to address the institutional and systemic barriers that too many Minnesotans face. Hear how they plan to create access and opportunity in employment and business for Minnesotans of color. He’ll challenge us to think about how we can use authentic engagement and collaborative efforts to drive tangible progress on such a complex issue.

Often we’re faced with crucial issues but are without the tactical knowledge we need to take action. Hear from a panel of leaders who have done the hard work to successfully shift their organizations to become more inclusive. Learn from the challenges they faced as they figured out what worked and what didn’t. They’ll share with us their lessons learned, their successes, and the opportunities they see ahead.

Implicit bias isn’t conscious – that’s what makes it so challenging and so important to address. Engage with your peers as we explore more deeply the individual differences in our experiences and unconscious biases that inform our worldview. Use this conversation as a catalyst for talking about the changes you want to make and see in your own organization.

Move past good intentions to genuine impact. In order to begin weaving diversity, equity, and inclusion through all aspects of our organizations’ work, we’ll need sound strategy. Walk through the process of how to build a practical but powerful framework that can empower you to begin developing your own equity and inclusion plan. Get started on the path to meaningful organizational outcomes.
